I finally got my big screen TV

It's been a long time coming, but after years of impatient waiting I finally got a TV I always wanted. A big screen, high-def, rear-projection to be exact. Finally, I can watch TV, movies, and play video games the way they are meant to be played, in high-def. I rarely buy things on a whim, especially with big items like this, but it was too good to give up.

Replaying Vampire Bloodlines

I believe this is the third or fourth time that I'm playing through this game. Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines is its full title and I really enjoy playing this game. Bloodlines is an RPG/FPS game that came out for the PC a few years ago and runs off the Half-Life 2 Source engine. While the game may not be as big or complex as other RPGs, it does have depth. It's also worlds apart from your typical fantasy RPG. Bloodlines, as I'm sure you figured out by now, revolves around the world of vampires and everything they do in our present time to try and hide themselves from the rest of the world.

Cannot wait for GTA IV

Ah yes, Grand Theft Auto IV. I'm not afraid to admit that I love the GTA series. Well, at least from GTA III and up. The first two GTA's were ok, but not as memoriable as their children. I am of course talking about Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. They all rock, so all you haters shut up. Those three games have given me more game play time than another other game I can think of.

An open letter to Valve

Valve, it's been awhile now since you guys released Half-Life 2: Episode One, and my patience is starting to wear thin. You can only play through this game so many times before it get repetitive (count 8 times for me). Now I'm waiting for Episode Two, which looks amazing by the way, and will probably blow the previous episode out of the water. We're talking bigger, and more open environments, new enemies, weapons, and vehicles. Updated graphics, AI, and physics. Plus, the answering of more of those famous Half-Life questions. Like WTF is is going on!? FEED ME INFO ON THE DAMN G-MAN!!

Giving the new Google Analytics a try

Since the beginning of WebNV I've always used AWStats to gather the statistics of my web site. It was standard and came free with my web host. Plus, it's easy to use and understand. It includes pretty much everything you need regarding your web site's stats. I could check my number of visits, visitors locale, length of visits, etc. So why would I try another stats program like Google's Analytics? Well, simply because I want to try something new, and I'm glad I did.

Logging my ID to buy booze

I haven't been pissed off in a while now, but yesterday after work I got all fired up. After work, Jenny and I went to the grocery store to pick up some necessities (e.g., booze). We get to the cash register and the cashier lady scans all our items then asks for our IDs because we are buying alcohol. So far this is all pretty normal. We're both only 24 years old, so getting carded is no big deal. But the dumb part was still coming.

New kitchen counter tops

Finally, our kitchen is starting to look like a kitchen! After 7-8 weeks of remodeling our kitchen we are almost done. The last big thing got done today, and that was installing the counter tops. They look great and go really well with the color of our cabinets, floor, etc. I must admit I was a little worried about them installing the counter tops. Since Jenny and I did the cabinets ourselves I was afraid that the counter tops wouldn't work, or fit, or something. And it would be our fault.

I miss my Xbox 360

As most of my Xbox Live friends have realized, I haven't been on my Xbox for the past couple of months. Reason? Well, between buying a new house, moving, and unpacking, I haven't had time to play with it, let alone, even hook it up. During all this activity I didn't miss the 360 mainly because I didn't even have time to think about it. But now that I'm all settled in I really want to play it again, but I can't.

IP and referrer blocking

In my ongoing effort to stop comment spam from getting through, I've decided to implement IP address blocking and referrer blocking. I never really wanted to block IP's or visitors from certain referrers from accessing my entire site, but decided to build a little script to do so anyways. I guess I should start being a little tougher on these spambots.

My first post from our new house

Well, Jenny and I made the final move into our new house this last weekend, and boy am I glad it's over. It has been one hell of a stressful month. Between work, moving, and remodeling our kitchen I never thought we'd ever make it into this house. But alas, here I am, typing my first post from my new office in my new house. Exciting stuff...well, for me anyways.

I love spambots

Well, in a certain sense anyways. Most of the time they're just pathetic little programs that try their hardest to post Viagra ads on your site. But over the past few years WebNV has seen more and more spammers access this site and try to post their garbage. I hate to say it but some do get through. And since I'm running my own cms, it means a lot more work for me to try and stop them. Luckily I like a challenge.
