Figures. The weekend I go out of town, is the same weekend they decide to release a demo of one of my most anticipated games of the year, Crysis. So yesterday morning (Monday) I start to download the demo via BitTorrent. I tried downloading from several other HTTP servers, but their download time was going to take a while longer than BitTorrent. Still, the demo took about 3-4 hours to download.

The Crysis demo is telling me I need a new computer
Here we go. My most anticipated game of this year has finally come, and unfortunately, gone. But that's OK, because I've already played through it twice and I'm now watching Jenny (wife) play through it. The next installment of Gordon Freeman's journey takes him through the outskirts of City 17 and into the wild with big outdoor areas, and new elements like weapons, enemies, and friendly faces.
Valve's Orange Box that is. Which is set to be released in less than two hours. How do I know this? Well, Steam was nice enough to tell me. I opened up Steam, went to my games list, and half-heartedly double clicked on the pre-loaded, yet locked, Portal game. And what did I get? A nice message telling me the game is going to be unlocked in a little over an hour. My pulse increased immediately. I knew the game was supposed to be released tomorrow, but Valve always likes to push things back.
My team is in and showing everyone what they're capable of. Not only did the Diamondbacks (D-Backs) win their division in the National League West, but now they just sweep the Cubs to continue their domination of the National League. Next in their site is the Colorado Rockies - a team that's won 17 out of their last 18 games. I was hoping the D-Backs wouldn't have to face the Rockies, but it looks like we're in for a very tense series with them. I can't wait!
Greetings RSS users! I've recently made some changes to my feeds including their URLs. The new default feed URLs are located here:
- Articles: http://webnv.net/feed/articles/all/full/10
- Comments: http://webnv.net/feed/comments/all/full/10
I did create a rewrite rule in my .htaccess file for anyone accessing the old URL to be automatically redirected to the new URL. So if you or your RSS reader is using the old URL then you shouldn't see an issue. But I don't want to keep that rewrite rule around forever, so please update your readers. I also somehow removed the RSS links from the <head> of my page (probably while rebuilding my template system for the 100th time), but they're back now.
It's that time of year again. Or is it that time of quarter? I don't know. Either way, I'm tired of looking at my current site design and so I'm creating a new one. I've actually been sick of my current design for awhile now. It's just that I haven't had the time or effort for creating a new one. Plus, I needed to update my template system to play nice with any new templates that I create. Anyways, I finally got motivated and you can check out a preview of the new design here:
