A Wilhelm Scream's new CD - Ruiner

Ruiner album cover

I just picked up A Wilhelm Scream's new CD the other night, titled 'Ruiner'. This is the first CD of theirs that I bought. I only every heard these guys in concert and for those who know, you can't accurately judge live songs.

All I knew when I was watching them, was that they were fast - and fast is good. At times they seemed blistering fast and I couldn't help but get sucked in and enjoy it.

So I shelled out $10 and bought their new CD. I've been listening to it for the past few days and find it great. The fist song on the CD 'The King is Dead' (click to listen) absolutely rocks and was a good representation of how they were in concert. But unfortuately some of the other songs feel lacking, and slower.

The band members themselves are all very talented and great at what they play. The guitar riffs are fast and well harmonized. But I think the vocals and backup vocals give the band its power. The lead singer has got that great 'rough' voice where he doesn't sound like he's crying while singing (like emo bands), but is not too hard like death metal.

Overall I find this CD growing more and more on me and will probably buy a few of their older CDs. If you like other bands like 'Rise Against' or 'H2O' you'll probably enjoy this CD.
