Gravatars have returned

The guys (or should I say guy) over at Gravatar.com has finally released Gravatar 2.0 upon the world. For those who don't know, Gravatar stands for Globally recognized avatar. In other words, you create an avatar for yourself that will follow you around and display when ever you post on a Gravatar enabled site. I've just re-enabled Gravatars on my site, so if you have one, feel free to comment here and show it off.

How do Gravatars work? It's really quite simple. If you don't have a Gravatar, then simply go to Gravatar.com and signup for one. They are completely free. Once you sign up, you just assign an avatar (from your PC or Internet location) to your e-mail address. They when you post comments on Gravatar enabled blogs (like this one), make sure you use your same e-mail address that your Gravatar is assigned to. Then when your comment is displayed, so will your Gravatar. Cool huh? This simply allows everyone to have their own personal touch to their comments.

So if you already have a Gravatar account setup, then feel free to comment here with your Gravatar enabled e-mail address and show it off. If you don't have a Gravatar yet, then go sign up for one.

UPDATE: OK, it seems the Gravatar site along with their image serving mechanism has more ups and downs than your average roller coaster. So if your comment doesn't include your gravatar, don't blame me.

UPDATE 2: Automattic has aquired Gravatar and now the system is kick ass! So get one already!
