Crysis is probably one of my most anticipated games of 2007 along with Half-Life 2: Episode Two and Team Fortress 2. Why? Well, for one is it being developed by the same guys who created Far Cry which I thought was a very fun game. Second, it takes you back to those lovely outdoor tropical environments that I missed in other first person shooters like Half-Life 2, Doom 3, and Bioshock. Third, it has amazing graphics. So amazing in fact that I'm worried that my computer will have trouble running it at the settings I want. What kind of settings? Maybe a nice high resolution, some AA, high res textures, and far view distances to name a few. If my current computer can't handle it, I guess I'll just have to build a new one.
Another thing that recently impressed me was the special suit your character wears in Crysis. It's a weird military suit that allows you to change or beef up certain abilities. For instance, I can make myself stronger which allows me to throw things farther and faster. Plus my punches and weapons melee does more damage. Or I can make myself faster and rush up to or behind enemies. These are just a couple abilities that you can do with the suit.
When Crytek (developers of Crysis and Far Cry) first announced this suit, I wasn't too sure about it. I didn't know if it would be fun or just annoying. Well, after re-watching some of the E3 2007 walk though videos I must say that this special suit will be fantastic. It allows you to play the game or fight enemies in different ways and will hopefully keep the game from getting too repetitive and boring.
If you're not convinced about Crysis yet, then check out some of these developer walk through videos below. They're the videos that made me fall in love with the enviro-suit and even more with Crysis. Or check out the high-def versions of the videos here >> Part 1, Part 2, Part 3.
