So, yeah, I got an Xbox 360 for Christmas thanks to Jenny (love you!). Talk about weird. I've been talking a lot about the 360 lately, and even stated I wouldn't mind getting one someday. So she surprised the shit out of me this Christmas when I opened her present and saw the Xbox 360 package.
Prior to that Jenny and I went to visit her parents and her dad recently bought an Xbox 360. Me and him spent a good part of the day playing Gears of War co-op and I watched him play some Rainbow Six Las Vegas. It was pretty fun and I was impressed with how well the online aspect of it worked. I was pretty much set on getting one when I got back to Phoenix.
He also showed me some of the other features of the console, including the Dashboard and Marketplace. I must say, I was pretty impressed. I don't have my Xbox Live Gamertag thingy setup yet as I'm still out of town and I don't know what name to pick for myself. I'd love to go with the my normal online alias, which is chapstick, but of course that is already taken. Looks like someone registered it but never actually used it. Thanks a lot man. Microsoft needs to kick this bum off and give me his account, which he's not using.
I'm thinking about doing something else like chapnick instead. Or chapsnick. UPDATE: I now setup my Gamertag under the name chapnick. That way it combines both my online alias and my real life name. But I'm still out of town so I wont be able to setup my Xbox 360 or the Live account until later tonight or sometime tomorrow (Dec 27). But when I do I'll let everyone know.
Anyways, I also got Gears of War for the 360 and the console came bundled with Need for Speed: Most Wanted. I also have over $100 that I can use on additional 360 games / hardware. I kind of want to know what you guys out there recommend. I was told I should definitely get the rechargeable battery kit for the controllers. But I don't know what other devices or games to get. And yes, I must spend it all!! I'll probably also get a second controller so Jenny can play as well.
Well, I cannot wait to get back to Phoenix to set it up and start playing with it. Luckily I took the rest of the week off from work so it looks like the 360 and I will have a lot of time to get acquainted. In the end I ask this, can I join the cool kids club now?

A PlayStation fanboy admits he is wrong
What about ChapstickNV? Or NVchapstick?
I'm assuming you've got the 360 Premium system, so I'd get the play and charge kit thing, which has the battery and the cable. The media remote thing is useful if you're going to be using the Media Center functions of it (but you can still use the remote to operate all the dashboard and stuff too).
try and reason with this chapstick dude
I got my system a month ago. It's quite nice.
Well add me when you get XBL!
The Air Cushion.
My tag is bandersnatched.
w00tsauce HES GOT A 360!
congrats 8)
Well, I finally got my gamertag setup. I'm using the name chapnick.
But I'm going to bed now as it's 2am here. I'll be adding people when I get up tomorrow.
@ Paul: Yes I did get the premium version and will be picking up the recharge kit tomorrow. I don't have Media Center on my PC, but do have WMP11, so I was able to share my music and stuff. Pretty cool.
@ Andre: Yeah, I heard some of those BK games are pretty fun actually. If I go to BK anytime soon (not likely) I'll pick one up.
@ KoB, bandersnatch, hitman, and Smith: I'll try to get you guys added tomorrow. But now it's sleepy time.
I was thinking of some game suggestions after reviewing my library and here they are:
Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, PGR3, Burnout Legends, Hitman: Bloody Money, Splinter Cell Double Agent, Call of Duty 2/3, Oblivion, Condemned (so scary!), Dead Rising, Gun (it may be just a xbox port but it's fun!) and King Kong (it's a short game with little replay value so I advise you rent it but its a great experience).
For Xbox Live Arcade, there's one must-have you should get: Geometry Wars Evolved. Try out the demo, you won't regret it. :D
@ Smith: Yeah I remember the whole Area 51 thing. But unless I find some really good prices on old Xbox games, I don't know if I'll be buying any.
@ bandersnatch: Thanks for the info man! But I already have most of those games for the PC. But I did see PGR3 on sale for only $20, so I might pick it up.
Don't forget Geometry Wars! :D
chapnick is just a combination of my online name, chapstick, and my real name, Nick.
chapnick is the beast that this combination be.
