You all know that PlayStation 3 right?  You know, Sony's newest gaming console?  Oh yeah!  That's right.  It's the one that's impossible to get unless A) you have lots of money and can buy one on eBay, or B) meet a man in dark back alley to 'exchange' something for one.  Anyways, I don't have a PS3 and probably will not get one for awhile.  First, I'll wait and see how the console does, or wait for more to become available, or wait for the price to drop.  Yeah, I'll probably be waiting for the next couple years.

So I find it kind of annoying when Sony sends me this really, really nice brochure about the PS3.  I was impressed when I got this big 13" x 10" black envelope with the PS3 logo across it.  Inside was a really nice brochure with lots of shiny pictures and information about the PS3.  Yes, they're advertising the PS3 to me.  Telling me to go out and buy one because of all these cool features it has.  But how am I supposed to get one?  I don't meet options A or B from above.  So what am I supposed to do?

I would like to get a PS3 but due to manufacturing/Blu-ray issues, Sony only shipped roughly 200,000 units to the U.S.A.  I was able to fight off the urge to stand in line for a week before the PS3 was released, and I finally beat the urge to take out a loan to buy one on eBay, but then Sony had to send me this fancy brochure and get me all excited again.

I mean I saw all the pics and vids of the PS3.  It's so shiny.  The PS3 is even shiny on this brochure!  Now that's dedication.  If I didn't like the brochure so much I would cut out the PS3 image from it and place it on my entertainment center.  Look everyone!  I have a PlayStation 3.

Enough about the looks, feel, and smell of this brochure (which are all top rate *sssnnniiiffff..ahhh*), let's see what this brochure actually talks about.

First, the brochure covers the Cell processor.  It pretty much just quotes the specs of Cell that most of us already know or can find on the Internet.  Next it talks about Blu-ray, and gives its specs as well.  After that we get a little info about the new SIXAXIS controller that comes with the PS3, as well as PSP to PS3 link-age.  Finally, the rest of the brochure talks about all the games that are currently released or soon to be released for the PS3.

In the end I don't really know why I got this.  I'm sure plenty of people received them, but they probably belong to some type of Sony community.  Maybe they subscribe to PlayStation Underground or something.  But for the life of me I cannot think of why they would send this to me.  Yes, I'm a PlayStation fan, but I don't remember registering for anything with Sony.

Oh well it's still nice and I'm glad I received it.  Maybe next Sony will send me a bigger envelope with an actual PS3 inside.  Or not.  Until then, I'll just have to stick with PC games until I get a PS3 or Xbox 360.  You can see more pics of the brochure here, here, and here.  And you can click on the pictures above to see the full size image.
