I want to see Idiocracy but Fox wont let me

Dax Shepard and Luke Wilson

So have any of you heard of the movie, Idiocracy?  If you have then consider yourself one of the few.  One of the few out of the millions and millions of people who have not.  I just heard about this movie today and must say I'm pissed at what the FOX studio did to it.

Idiocracy is a movie that was sort of released on September 1, 2006.  I say "sort of released" because good luck finding it playing at a theatre near you.  The movie was created two years ago but FOX execs have no idea what they wanted to do with it.  So they finally released it this month with little to no marketing.  Why?  Who knows.  Maybe it's because the movie is extremely horrible?  That's what I first thought.  But when I started to read up on the movie and research other peoples' reviews the movie didn't sound half bad.

Ok, so about the movie.  Idiocracy was created by Mike Judge.  You know him as the creator of Office Space, King of the Hill, and Beavis and Butthead.  Just to say, I'm a fan of all three, but I'm a biggest fan of Office Space.  It's a great cult classic.  Idiocracy stars Luke Wilson.  The movie takes place in the future; 500 years in the future to be exact.  In it Luke Wilson plays a normal, everyday guy who gets frozen or put into hibernation for 500 years (a la Futurama).  But what does he find in the future?  Idiots.  Lots and lots of idiots.

Now here's the premise of the movie that I really like.  You see smart people are getting outnumbered.  An intelligent person practices birth control and has moderately sized families.  Meanwhile idiots are too dumb or lazy to care about birth control or moderately sized families (they like to create lots and lots of Welfare babies that you and I get to support).  So after hundreds of years of this the world eventually gets taken over by idiots.  NOFX sung it best.

Like I said, Idiocracy's premise is interesting and something that I would like to see.  But will I be able to?  No.  Why?  Because FOX feels that little to no people should watch this.  Yet, FOX believes that people need to see 'From Justin to Kelly' and 'Garfield' (twice).  I guess I'll have to wait until Idiocracy makes it to DVD before I get to watch it.

Teh mediaz don't like to show anything controversial or intelligent, becuz it makes them less moniez. Unless of course it's Family Guy or the Simpsons, in which case they ignore the hate mail from their right-wing fanbase.

Wow -- a comedy film with an interesting premise? There's a first for everything I suppose.

Well yeah, I'm sure the movie is more about comedy than anything else.
