Less than a month to go

With the wedding less than a month away things are starting to get hectic.  October 27th is the big day.  Jenny and I have most of the big items done and crossed off our list, but now we have to start worrying about all the little details.  This scares me more that the big stuff because it's usually the little things we forget.

Things we have done - We have a location where the ceremony and reception will be held.  It's at a nice golf course/club/resort.  We have the officiant that will marry us.  We have a photographer that will take pictures.  We have florist doing all the flower decorations and crap.  Jenny got her dress.  I got my tux and ring.  We made and sent out all our invitations.  And we just recently got a DJ to play the music.

The DJ stuff was kind of fun.  We had to pick out all the songs we would like to hear during the reception.  Including important songs like first dance, last dance, etc.  There will be some 80's music being played because well...me and Jenny are children of the 80's and it's music rocks!

Things we have yet to do - Getting a cake.  We know where we're going to get the cake and what type of cake to get, but we just need to order it.  Also need to figure out some other decorations like table settings, center pieces, etc.  Planning your own wedding is a pain in the ass.  There's just so much crap you have to do.  Now I know why people hire wedding planners.  But it'll be worth it in the end and I think it'll turn out quite nice.

28 days and counting...

I think GreenMonkey is asking what kind of theme we'll be having for the wedding.  We don't really have a theme.  We have colors which are going to be red, white, and black.

You should go to Vegas for your bachelor party. And I'm guessing her dress is around 2 years salary, anm I right. Most people think that the ring is the big money grubber but most of the time it's the dress. (unless you get married like a dirty hippy in vegas.)

Actually, she did really good with the dress.  It cost less than one of my paychecks.  The ring on the other hand....

Yeah. I was talking about the wedding. lol. What we did for my reception was go to some of the department type stores and bought a bunch of stuff there. It was cheaper than going to a "wedding" place, and it turned out looking really good. Of course, we had a spring reception and did it in a "garden" type theme. So that was pretty easy.

@ Smith:  Not yet.  Currently shes just got the engagement ring.  The wedding ring will just be a plain band.

@ GreenMonkey:  A spring wedding would be nice for us, but we want to get married on the same day we started dating which was Oct 27, almost 8 years ago.  I thought a Fall wedding would be cool.  We could of done a Halloween theme.

Jenny quickly shot that down...

Weddings are time consuming and expensive. As soon as you add the word "wedding" to anything, it jets the price up automatically by 100+. If my husband and I wouldn't have been on a time restrictive schedule, we would've waited until Halloween to do that kind of wedding. That would've been awesome! It was still nice to do a spring one though. We actually did a vegas style wedding in Denmark, and then had the reception a month later back in the states. I'm glad we didn't do the whole thing all at once. It was stressful enough doing just that. It didn't help when the photographer cancelled at the last minute and we had to make due with putting disposable cameras on every table so the guests could take the photos. That actually turned out really nice. You could still do a fall theme. That would be fairly easy on short notice.
