Logging my ID to buy booze

I haven't been pissed off in a while now, but yesterday after work I got all fired up. After work, Jenny and I went to the grocery store to pick up some necessities (e.g., booze). We get to the cash register and the cashier lady scans all our items then asks for our IDs because we are buying alcohol. So far this is all pretty normal. We're both only 24 years old, so getting carded is no big deal. But the dumb part was still coming.

After taking both of our IDs, the cashier then opens up a booklet filled with rows and rows of hand written driver license numbers, names, dates of birth, and signatures. She starts writing our ID information in this booklet as well. So I stop her and ask what the hell she is doing. I don't like a person writing down my sensitive identification, let alone a cashier at a grocery store. So the cashier, who's obviously had a long day, snaps at me and stats they "have to" log people who buy booze. Store policy or some shit. I say "have to" because I've bought alcohol at this store before, plus many of their other stores around the Phoenix area, and never once have I had to have my ID logged in a cheap little notebook.

The cashier then goes back and continues to write down our drivers license information in their booklet. What would of taken a few minutes to pay for our groceries is now taking twice as long. Meanwhile I'm getting more and more angry by the moment. I can also see the people waiting in line behind us getting more and more inpatient. Nice to see a store sacrifice customer service so they can implement a policy that they feel is justified, yet don't explain this justification to its very customers that they are sacrificing. Way to go!

After what seemed like a lifetime, standing there like a dip shit, waiting for this hose-bag cashier to finish stealing our identities, she finally finishes and hands us the booklet to sign our names next to our IDs. Not wanting to cause a scene, and just go home, Jenny signs her name and hands it to me. Not caring if I cause a scene or make anyones life worse, I scratch out my license information and sign with a big "FUCK YOU!"

I know the cashier realized this when she took the booklet back from us, and so I waited for her to say something. Instead I noticed a slight little laugh come out of her blow hole and she let us pay for our items and leave. So what would of taken a few minutes now took close to 10. This completely wasted my time, Jenny's time, and the peoples' time in line behind us. Thanks a lot Frys Grocery Store at the corner of Val Vista and Warner! I won't be buying items from you again!

Lol typical Fry's customer service. I don't work there anymore anyway, and I was workin at the one on McDowell and 61st. Fry's can royally burn to the ground for all I care.

I've never heard of that log in thing, thats complete bullshit. I guess they encourage you to use that U-Scan thing, IDK. I thought the giant FU was great, I would have probably done the same.

Lets hope all the other groccery stores don't adopt this, or maybe it's an AZ thing. :s

I say if you want booze pay a homeless man to get it for you. Or make your own in your bathtub.
