New rating system

For awhile now, I've been trying to figure out how to have section that list just the most popular or most liked posts on this site. Or maybe list links to the most popular stories on the right hand side.

I've been trying to do it so that the post that gets the most hits, shows up as the most popular. This way my best posts can be easily accessible for visitors. But I couldn't get this method to work right, nor did I like the method to begin with. This method is largely inaccurate in the number of hits that a certain post may receive. Because every hit gets counted, even non-human ones (bots, spiders).

So instead I thought of a rating system that allows you guys to rate my blog entries. This adds a little more interactivity to the site and truly allows me and you to see what posts people like, and what posts they don't.

So at the bottom of each posts on the homepage, you'll see a new link next to the Comments link that says 'Rate this post'. Clicking on it takes to you the actual post page where you can rate it. It's still a work in progress, but I was so excited that I finally got it working that I had to post about it. In the future you'll see it change more (like being able to see the current rating, and number of votes). Then eventually you'll see a new block on the right that list the most popular blog posts on this site.

Thanks and happy ratings!
