Thompson put on trial and off the case

Before Florida attorney Jack Thompson can argue that companies that made or sold GTA are responsible for a June 2003 murders, he first has to prove his legal ethics - or lack of.

During the beginning of this case, the defendents motioned to have Thompson dismissed from the case for violation of legal ethics. Those following Thompson's antics know how un-ethical he can be. A lawyer with Blank Rome said Thompson was incapable of proceeding with civility and said he would "turn the courtroom into a circus."

This is obviously true as Thompson stated that himself: "I didn't start this food fight. They started it and I have a right to respond because, believe it or not, I have a life outside of this case." This guy sounds like he's 12 years old. Of course you started it. You started it when you decided to sue game companies left and right for unrelated murders.

Also the defense has motioned to have the entire case dismissed, stated that games are protected under the First Amendment and that really the 2003 murders have nothing to do with Sony, Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar Games, Wal-Mart, and GameStop.

Currently, the county judge asked both sides to draft arguments for how he should decide on the motion to dismiss the trial, in addition to saying he would make a decision on both motions at a later date.

Thompson has confirmed to Gamepolitics.com that he is now off the case, and indicated that it was his decision and he was not forced by Judge James Moore. Thompson also told Gamepolitics that his removal from the case was inevitable because he would likely have to take the stand at some point. Sounds like excuses. Sounds like the situation is getting too hot for Thompson and now he's backing out (just like when he offered to donate $10,000 to charity and backed out of that as well).
