Ahhh....it's nice. With the 2006 mid-term elections over, the out-comes have helped put a positive spin on my outlook of the American public. For awhile there I thought I was in the minority when it came to my views on certain political issues. Well, with the final out-come and a record number of young voters this election term, it looks like this country is finally moving forward.
First the Democrats have regained control of both the House and Senate again. No longer are we looking at a pure Republican government. We finally have a system of checks and balances back in place. Of course the out-comes of these elections might of been different if it wasn't for George W. Bush and his failed Iraq policy. People are tired of the war in Iraq. They're tired of right-wing conservatives and war profiteering politicians fucking up this country. There's a change in the wind and change is good.
States around the country have passed multiple propositions. Great propositions that will help move this country forward. For example in South Dakota, voters defended abortion rights. They allowed women to keep their rights to choose. In Missouri, voters endorsed stem cell research. In Kansas, voters overturned a proposition that would allow Intelligent Design to be taught in public schools. And in Arizona, voters made it clear that marriage should not just be between a man and a woman, but between two men or two women.
And in Arizona, it looks like we moving forward in a blue state. A lot of great propositions passed in Arizona. Like I mentioned above, Arizona voters banned the definition of marriage as one man and one woman. It doesn't mean that gay people can get married in Arizona, but it is a step in the right direction. Also, Arizona passed a state wide smoking ban. No more smoking in bars or restaurants. We also passed a law that adds an 80 cent tax on all cigarette packages that goes to childrens' education.
Ahhh...it is so nice. This country now may be heading in the right direction.

a bit steamed that The Govnator won in CA but for the most part it was a good few days.
As far as gay marriage, every person man or women has the right to pursue happiness, I know a few gay people, and couples there just like anyother person, they just want to be happy, live there lives, work (they all work) contribute to society.
The war is just plain wrong, the only reason were there at all is OIL, plain and simple, if this administration was really concerned about human rights we'd be in Africa,(thousands of women and children are killed every year and AIDS is spreading like wild fire, we could stop this or at least slow down the spread for pennies a day, but we spend millions in Iraq protecting OIL rights) . Bush just won't admit he made a mistake, he promised us Binladen I'm still waiting. If the draft was still active and they drafted one of my children to fight in this war, I'd move them to Canada.
I'm, glad the Demoracts did there home work and voted there hearts just not along party lines, I know I voted in several different parties which is my choice, I voted on the issues not the party.
good blog it's nice to see some young American's actually thinking and talking about politics, it's good to use your mind, make up your own mind and just not follow the crowd.
Republicans are worried about the oil subsidies being taken away because they believe it will equal higher gas prices. I don't think it will. If oil companies try to raise costs then expect price gouging investigations to take place. Unlike the republicans that said they would look into the higher gas prices, the Democrats are not in big oil's pockets and will stop it.
