The American Media is a bit odd. I'm not sure, but I think the cover just might be different. The cover picture is of Anne Leibovitz. She's a photographer and the story is about her life as such. The Newsweek website has the table of contents for that issue, and the story about Afghanistan is in there. The other cover is featured on Newsweek International.

The media is owned by private companies, how can the media not show bias? It's always been bias. The Republicans don't "run" the media, this goes deeper than some silly political issue and drives down at the heart of all politics, economics, their class, the same class as the democrats own it. Always have until the people take what should be theres.

In Britain the BBC are public, and Channel 4 are private (single share-holder the government)...probably commonly called "state-owned media" always portrayed by private channels as being "bad". That's the closest you can get to a non-bias media in bourgeois society.

Well, the problem with being informed is the media has become biased and now it's hard to trust the news anymore. The only news I listen to on the radio anymore is what I hear on Air America. You can't trust Fox News anymore, ABC has chosen it's side, CBS Evening news has become a crappy News Magazine. I guess now I only trust NBC. It's a sad fact that the Republicans run most of the media today. I hope that changes this November.
