WebNV is a place where a development environment crashes with a production environment. It's a self-built content management system I call NiBuM. Simply put, this is a personal site by me, Nick Villescas. I'm a 20-something computer geek with lots of interests (mostly in technology) that I enjoy talking about. Here you can read up on events in my life and the people around me. Read about my interests in web design and programming, video games, computers, music, and more »

GTA IV - First impressions

GTA IV has arrived and I finally picked up a copy. Check out my first impressions of the game and how it stacks up to the previous games in the series.

I finally picked up GTA IV for my Xbox 360 last Friday and have been playing it all weekend. First impressions are good. The opening cutscenes right away impressed me and lifted my expectations that GTA IV is going to have a better story with better characters than its previous incarnations.

This is what 14 tons of rocks looks like

When you see a dump truck unload 14 tons of rock onto your driveway, you can't help but wonder what the hell did you get yourself into. Check out pics of our daunting task.

So, this weekend we finally started landscaping our backyard. When Jenny and I first bought our house the backyard was just dirt, and it's been nothing but dirt for the past year (unless it rains, in which case it turns to a nice, thick mud). But we finally got some money to start landscaping, so we first bought gravel to put in its place. It was a lot of work but it was well worth it.

9rules, Vol. 3, Edition 1 in da house!

Another version of 9rules has just hit the interwebs, and while it may of lost a lot of content, the main purpose of the site has never been greater. Check out my thoughts on it below.

One of my favorite online communities, 9rules has gone through yet another transformation. I believe this makes three major changes since I became a member in 2006. And since then, and through all their changes, this most recent update (Vol. 3, Edition 1) is the best so far. So, be sure to head over there and check it out.

Assassin's Creed PC review

The first of my most anticipated games for 2008 has come and gone. How was it? Was it worth the wait? Did it meet my expectations? Read on to find out.

Playing Assassin's Creed on the PC is something I've been eagerly waiting to do for a long time. I ignored the DRM, instability, and control issues, and dove right in - purchasing the game through Steam. First impressions were mixed. The graphics and story instantly drew me in while the controls and menu navigation threw me off. But I stuck with it, and in the end Assassin's Creed turned out to be a damn good game.

Assassin's Creed is finally out for the PC

Assassin's Creed for the PC is finally here. It's been a long wait and I've only been able to play if for a few minutes, but my first impressions are good...really good!

One of my most anticipated games for the PC was finally released a couple days ago. Assassin's Creed has been a game I've known about since it was first announced to the world. But I was never that interested in the game until about nine months ago when lots of gameplay footage and screen shots were released. The game looked amazing and I couldn't wait to play it.
