What’s been happening for the past 3 years?
Prior to this week I have not posted anything new on the blog since December 2009. That was over three years ago. I cannot believe I let this blog go unattended for that long.
My personal life
My life has changed a little bit in the past three years. I’m still happily married to Jenny. We still have our one dog, Abby and no kids (dinks). We sold our house two years ago. Unfortunately, we became a statistic and watched the value of our house plummet as the U.S. economy dropped. So we decided to short-sale our house and go back to renting. Since then we’ve been living in a temporary rental house, but will be moving again soon.
I finally got rid of Shelia, my old green sports truck. Had to trade it in for a newer model. I ended up getting a new truck that is a lot nicer and dependable. I also picked up a Banshee (quad/ATV) so I can go riding out in the desert. This new truck works perfectly has I can haul my quad out into the desert with it.
My technological life
I’m still playing a lot of video games, but mostly on the PC now. I rarely touch my Xbox 360. I still have my gaming PC, Stealth, but it has been completely updated on the inside (new motherboard, CPU, RAM, HDD, and graphics card). It plays the latest PC games on high settings no problem.
I’m still a die hard Windows Phone fan. Right now I’m carrying a Nokia Lumia 900 with the Windows Phone 7.5 OS. Hopefully soon I’ll be updating to the Lumia 920. My phone is the second most used device I play games on after my PC.
Back to school
I am currently back in school to finally get by Bachelor’s degree. This degree will be specifically for information technology with a concentration in web development. I should graduate sometime in 2014. This seems like a long time away, but I’m sure it will be here before I know it.
Lastly, a new CMS
As you have already probably noticed, WebNV is now using a new CMS. WordPress to be exact. I’ve used WordPress plenty in the past along with many other CMS products. As I write this, my WordPress install is pretty bare bones and I’m using a pre-designed theme. As we move forward expect changes to the design of WebNV. Eventually I will be using my own theme when I have the time to create one.
So what about Nibum, my own CMS project? My lofty goals of creating this CMS from scratch are still around. I just no longer have the time or patience to continually work on creating something new. I did learn a lot while creating Nibum though. I still work on it from time to time but no longer have any production websites running on it. You can expect to see a post every now and then on the current status of Nibum.
So that’s that. WebNV is back and working on a better and more widely supported platform. This should make blogging much easier. Here’s to the next three years! 🙂
